Handmade Wooden Beads made from Rare Tasmanian Wood

Details of tasmania wooden beadss

Tasmanian Forest Beads are handmade from the off-cuts of specialty native timbers used by Tasmanian artisans and woodcrafts-people. Tasmanian forest timber is a valuable resource that produces beautiful products ; however, it is inevitable that scraps of timber are discarded in this process.

Up until now, these offcuts have been considered waste, often ending up in landfill or being burnt.

We have designed a beautiful product that recycles this precious resource.

The forest offcuts are collected from other craftspeople, cut and shaped into beads using an innovative process developed specifically for the purpose. Each bead is then hand drilled, further processed and finally treated with a natural citrus based oil to produce a unique bead of forest timber.

The wood used for the beads include :

  • Tasmania's unique Huon Pine
  • Myrtle
  • Blackwood
  • Eucalyptus
  • Banksia
  • Sassafras

We use Tasmanian Wooden Forest Beads in a range of innovative products :

  • Tasmanian Forest Bead Boxes : contain a distinctive variety of beads designed to be formed into bracelets and worry beads. The box comes with the right type of threading for both the bracelet and the worry beads.
  • Beautiful wooden knitting needles : come in three sizes and are topped by selected pairs of beads.
  • Buttons : made from Horizontal : to enhance your knitted item.
  • Sterling Silver rings : come in three sizes and highlight especially chosen beads.
  • Timber boxes : handmade to match a bead handle, these wooden boxes could contain your Bead Ring, hold sea salt on your dining table or would be perfect for The Tooth Fairy.
New Tasmanian Bead products will appear on this site regularly.

We believe this is maximising the use of this valuable resource while producing a product that will inspire you to create your own unique jewellery and accessories.
